CINNAMON TO KEEP THE COLD AND FLU AT BAY

It’s that time of year again – a time when flus and colds flourish and we need to boost our immune systems to fight of the viruses. While we know that garlic and onions can kill bacteria, they are not very office-friendly when it comes to scent. Luckily, there is a familiar seasoning that is quite a nutritional powerhouse and is delicious as well!

Cinnamon was once more valuable than gold, as ancient physicians used this spice in medicines to treat coughs, hoarseness and sore throats. In later years, it was even proven useful in treating inflammation, indigestion and circulation.

While it’s not necessarily used medicinally in current times, cinnamon is still sought after as an incredibly powerful antioxidant and valuable source of phenols, which have been known to fight off unhealthy bacteria. It has even been said that ½ teaspoon of cinnamon per day can assist in lowering blood pressure and insulin production in type 2 diabetics.

Incorporate cinnamon into your diet by adding it into your morning cup of coffee or a protein shake. Our OnJuice Apple Pie is also the perfect way to incorporate cinnamon into your diet as it is accented by organic red apples, carrots, and nutmeg!
