Diet Spotlight: Paleo Lifestyle


Following a Paleo Diet has been known as one of the most effective ways to lose weight. This meal plan is based around the idea of eating wholesome foods that our hunter-gatherer ancestors used to eat 2.6 million years ago until the beginning of the agricultural revolution.

Foods on this plan include grass-fed and free-ranged meats, poultry, fish, seafood, vegetables, seeds, nuts, oils and fruits. Dairy, grains and sugars (except for fruit) are excluded. Eating this way has shown weight loss and improvement in heart-health.

The best thing about this way of eating is that is excludes dairy and gluten – two of the largest health offenders. Many of our clients have commented that one the hardest items to give up is pasta, so to help them enjoy their daily menu choices, our chefs got creative with spaghetti squash. If you are eating according to the Paleo guidelines and would like to make these kind of noodles, try this easy recipe:

Easy Spaghetti Squash

– Spaghetti squash

– Your favorite Marinara sauce

– Portobello Mushrooms

Cut spaghetti squash length-wise and steam for about 15 minutes, or until soft.

Scoop out contents with a spoon – the squash will look stringy like spaghetti.

While the squash is cooking, sauté portobello mushrooms in a separate pan. Add marinara sauce when mushrooms are done. Pour the mushrooms and the sauce of the spaghetti and enjoy!
