Motivation advice from one of our clients

A few weeks ago I met one of our clients – Brett, and we had a great conversation about life, food and weightloss that I wanted to share with you. Heavy since he was a kid, Brett has tried it all – from conventional diet plans and fat-loss camps. Yet nothing helped long-term. Feeling alone and frustrated he would gain weight back almost as fast as he lost it, so he almost gave up on his journey until July 2012 when he learned about DeliverLean. Even though he was hesitant at first, Brett realized he got nothing to lose except for 300 pounds, so he signed up. After just 3.5 months into it he has shed 60 pounds and is motivated to continue on to reach his goal. Here are Brett’s 3 tips to staying motivated and losing the extra weight:

  1. Get support. Doing it alone is not fun. It is very hard and lonely. He attributes his success so far to DeliverLean’s team and coaching from our nutritionist. Brett knows that doing it together with other people who care about him gives him lots of strength.
  2. Get educated. Brett loves that DeliverLean’s meals are teaching him about portion control and balance. Now when he goes out he knows what his meals are supposed to look like, so he can still enjoy occasional restaurant food without overeating. He is also loving the taste of the food as it gets most of his cravings satisfied.
  3. Get moving. While it is 80% about the diet, it is also 20% about exercise. Brett has seen that working out just 3 times a week can boost the metabolism, increase muscle mass and help shed fat. But he does advise that (from his personal experience) working out with a trainer is much more motivating than doing it alone. He knows he is in great hands with the team from IMPACT Sports Performance in Boca Raton.

South Florida CityLink reviews DeliverLean’s gourmet meal delivery service

Knock, Knock! Whose fare?

Boca Raton-based company dishes out fresh food daily to your doorstep

Scott Harris dreams of changing the way Americans eat and he’s determined to deliver that goal one meal at a time. Harris is the president of DeliverLean, a food service that brings healthy, portion-controlled meals to your home.

The idea for DeliverLean sprouted after Harris, who has a computer technology background, decided he needed to eat a more balanced diet.
“I’ve been working out most of my life and carried most of my weight in my midsection,” Harris says. “I was always on the go—eating breakfast sometimes at 2 p.m. I never had time to cook so I hired a chef to make meals for me in my office and we all started losing weight and feeling great.”

Last September, he teamed up with Olga Kuzenkov to develop a way to bring this dining concept to the masses. “My goal was to make it convenient for people to eat healthy, calorically balanced meals every three hours,” Harris says. “The challenge was adding a logistics component and getting the meals to people’s homes and businesses.”

DeliverLean started in Boca Raton and now delivers more than 35,000 meals a month from Jupiter to Miami Beach. Continue reading

Miami Culinary Tours Reviews DeliverLean

The following review of DeliverLean is from Miami Culinary Tours, Posted 2-1-12.

DeliverLean – Eat Clean in South Florida

When I think of delivery food the first thing that comes to mind are pizza, Chinese or other fast eats. DeliverLean is an alternative: wholesome, delicious and nutritious meals delivered right to your door.

I got a complete day of food: breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. It all came in an insulated bag that assured that the food was kept fresh.

Egg White Omelet with Veggies, Sprouted Grain Bread – Calories 376, protein 30, carbs 35

I have always shunned egg whites alone. The yolk is the best part, right? I was hesitant when I saw this fluffy, snow-white omelet with no hint of yellow and was seriously wondering about the taste. One bite and I was in egg-white heaven. The omelet by itself was very tasty and spongy and excellent when eaten together with the veggies. I liked the sprouted grain bread also. I had it with the jam (provided) and it was delicious.

Pork Medallions with Mushroom Gravy, Celeriac Mash – Calories 371, protein 34, carbs 29

For lunch I had the pork. It was really good and quite moist and tender, the mushroom gravy adding an earthiness to the dish. This was the first time I had celeriac mash and it won’t be the last for sure.

Yogurt Parfait with berries, almonds and banana muffin – Calories 399, proteins 15, carbs 46

This I had for dessert for lunch and it was yummy. The yogurt and the berries were nice and sweet. I was not so sure about the banana muffin, it was a little on the dry side but it did taste good.

Thai Peanut Chicken Wrap – Calories 419, Protein 32

The chicken wrap was awesome and full of flavor and really hit the spot. I had it for a snack before dinner.

Thai Chili Tilapia with Cashew Snap Peas & Brown Rice – Calories 390, Protein 33, Carbs 47

Tilapia is a fish that I consider very bland, almost like eating solid water. I daresay that this was the best tilapia I have had in a while. It almost tasted like the ocean even though it is a fresh water fish. The snap peas were crunchy and alive and the portion of brown rice was perfect for mopping up the juices from the tilapia.

All in all the meals from DeliverLean were very good and satisfying. The portion sizes were exactly right: not too much, not too little. The flavor was also very good, hard to imagine that low-calorie food could taste so amazing. To be honest, this is more than I would usually eat in a day as I do not have the time to prepare so many different meals. I was more than satisfied by the end of the day and never felt hungry nor over-full. I even gave my older daughter a bite of each dish and she liked them all.

DeliverLean is a new meal delivery service that offers healthy meals hand-delivered to homes or offices. The company was established in September 2011 by foodies who believe that healthy meals do not have to equal tasteless and boring food. DeliverLean’s meals are packed with lean proteins, fresh vegetables and carbs that are full of nutrients and vitamins. It is affordable too, offering a variety of meal plans and prices according to customer needs.

It is about time that someone realized that health is not an option but a priority and it all starts with what we put in our mouths. DeliverLean makes it easier to attain a healthier lifestyle in a delicious and simple way.
